On a Personal Note 6

Dear reader,

Last week I went to see and hear the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl – a wonderful summer venue for a wonderful orchestra. They were playing Brahm’s Double concerto with quest soloists. When I was in high school, I used to have a cassette recording of this piece that I played a lot. I don’t know what happened to the tape when I moved, but I never got a CD recording of it and haven’t listened to it in many years. When I saw the concerto on the program, I was glad to be able to go and hear it again, but I couldn’t remember anything of how it sounded.

Yet with the very first notes, I could hear the themes inside me – as if I’d just listened to it yesterday. Every new phrase was pleasantly familiar! The performance was great and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was so interesting to me to note how much I remembered after so many years!

It was a great night!
