I’m reading over my old posts – to remind myself of what I wrote, and to correct my grammar – which I do need to do occasionally! 🙂
And I came to this one and thought: the “wow”, here it is! – “this inclination, this inner urge of reverence for something set apart above us” as that article states! This is the same thing. (If you are wondering about the “wow”, read this post). And then it occurred to me that in order for the artist to “wow”, he needs to know 1). that a person is capable of being “wow-ed”, and 2). why and how the process of being “wow-ed” works. In other words, in order to learn how to “wow” others, I need to understand why and how I can be “wow-ed”.
That a person is capable of being “wow-ed” I think is self-evident to everyone who lives and observes this life. What causes this I find more elusive to answer. Unfortunately, no definition in a textbook or dictionary that I have ever found comes even close. What is the problem?
